History of the Sheraton Hotel (Lima, Peru)

Located in the historic center of Lima, the place where the hotel was built holds many secrets. Its exact location is in front of the the Justice Palace of Peru and next to a shopping center called Real Plaza Centro Civico.

The story begins around the year 1861, in that place, "the Panopticon" begins to function, a very modern penitentiary for its time and that housed the most dangerous murderers and criminals in Peru. In 1960, its demolition was decided. For this, the execution of the inmates took place. There were many rumors that those who bought the land (today the Sheraton hotel), bought it at a cheap price since they knew of the fact of violent deaths that occurred inside the Panopticon.

In 1970, one of the best hotels in Peru began to be built. For the year 1973, the Sheraton hotel was inaugurated and over time it managed to prosper.

Until in 1990, a tragic event would occur. One night, a couple named Leandro Reano and Marita Alpaca Raa stayed, he being a well-known banker and she, his couple. That fateful night both argued and the man threw the woman out the window for a reason, the man didn't want to have a child and she was pregnant. The woman fell so close to the pool and died instantly. For years it was not possible to erase the traces of the tragic event since traces of blood remained in the area where she died. The man did everything to avoid going to prison, he paid the police to lie so that he could be freed from all guilt. Marita's mother stated that the uterus didn't belong to her daughter but that they had put another one in its place.

In 2016, a new tragic event happened. A 17-year-old Colombian girl circumvented hotel security and climbed to the highest part of the hotel. A security guard followed her but to no avail, the young woman threw herself into the void, falling very close and on the same floor where Marita Alpaca Raa died. Acquaintances of the victim point out that the young woman belonged to a religious group and that the main cause of her fateful decision was because she had problems with her boyfriend.

Some of the staff and people who have worked in the place, including guests, have witnessed paranormal activity in the hotel. It could be said that they are the souls of the inmates, Marita Alpaca Raa and the 17-year-old girl who died dramatically in that place.
